CPP Postpones Extraordinary Central Committee Meeting to Mid-July

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has decided to postpone the party's Extraordinary Central Committee meeting, which was originally scheduled for early July, to mid-July instead.

The Cabinet of the Central Committee has issued a notice to its members, stating that the Standing Committee has decided to postpone the meeting of the Extraordinary Central Committee, originally scheduled for 9-10 July 2022 at the CPP Headquarters, to the weekend of 16-17 July 2022 instead.

The meeting will take place just weeks after Cambodia held its 5th Mandate Commune/Sangkat Elections, on Sunday, 5 June. A total of 17 parties competed for 11,622 Commune/Sangkat seats nationwide from 1,652 Communes. The results released by the NEC revealed that more than 7.3 million people went to vote for the election, equivalent to more than 80% of the 9.2 million registered voters.
